Have your bike branded
At every stage in your history with your bike, BicyCode marking helps you secure, protect, find and pass on your bike.
How to brand your bike

Protect your bike against theft by following these three simple steps. The BicyCode marking guarantees the unique identification of your bike and facilitates its recovery in the event of loss.
Visit a BicyCode marking provider
To have your bike branded, make an appointment at one of our partners near you, and bring your proof of purchase and identification with you.
In the absence of an original invoice , if you buy an unmarked second-hand bike, at the very least obtain a written bill of sale or deed of session from your dealer!
Identify your bike with BicyCode
When marking your bike, the partner records the bike's characteristics and the owner's details. It is possible to issue a certificate of identification, also downloadable from yourBicyCode account. This certificate is sometimes required when you take out bicycle insurance.
Once registration is complete, you'll receive a confirmation e-mail. Please acknowledge receipt.
Your bike is then registered in the FNUCI (Fichier National Unique des Cycles Identifiés), which can only be consulted by the police.
Create your Bicycode account
After purchasing your bike or marking a bike marketed since January 1, 2021, you must create a BicyCode account to manage your bike's information.

Are you in a particular situation, do you need clarification or are you simply curious?
What types of bicycles must be identified under the regulations?
Bicycle marking is mandatory under Decree no. 2020-1439 of November 23, 2020 and the Order of December 29, 2020. These regulations apply to :
- To new bicycles purchased from a retailer since January 1ᵉʳ, 2021.
- To used bikes sold by professionals from July 1ᵉʳ 2021.
On the other hand, cycles sold before these dates, whether by professionals or private individuals, are not subject to this obligation.
To have your bike marked, visit an authorized BicyCode operator. A map of marking points is available on our website to help you find the one nearest you.
What should I do if my bike was not registered at the time of purchase?
From January 1ᵉʳ 2021 for new bikes, and July 1ᵉʳ 2021 for second-hand bikes, all cycles sold by professionals (bike shops, superstores, second-hand dealers, etc.) must be identified and registered in your name, in accordance with current regulations (decree no. 2020-1439 and order of December 29, 2020).
If this process has not been carried out, we advise you to contact the seller as soon as possible to remind him of his legal obligation. He will have to register your bike and provide you with the necessary identification certificate.
